A complete playthrough of I-Motion's 1996 PlayStation horror adventure port of the PC game, Alone in the Dark: One Eyed Jack's Revenge. • One Eyed Jack's Revenge (or Jack is Back in PAL territories) is an upgraded port of the original 1993 PC Dos game's CD upgraded version of Alone in the Dark 2. This version has some pretty nicely updated visuals with fully texture mapped characters. The music is pretty ludicrously inappropriate for most of the game, and on both the Saturn and PlayStation versions the load times get pretty obnoxious (especially compared to the nearly seamless transitions between scenes on a 486 PC), but the game is excellent regardless of whatever annoyances this port introduces. • It's not quite the hallmark genre benchmark that the original was (predating Resident Evil's brand of 3D survival horror by a good five years or so) and it focuses too much on combat (and highlights the game's dire need, no matter the platform, for more reasonable combat controls), but it still delivers a unique experience that ought not be missed by any genre fan. • For anyone that wants to see the stark differences in visuals between platforms, watch the intro credits. The first version of Edward shown is from the PC version, the second from this PS version.
