This video from Sears PartsDirect shows how to replace an exposed bake element in a range. An exposed bake element sits on the bottom of the interior of the oven, instead of being hidden under a panel on the bottom of the oven. Because the element is exposed, it’s easy to see obvious signs of damage such as cracks or a melted spot, but the element can look okay and still not heat. Replace the bake element with a manufacturer-approved part if the oven doesn't heat in bake mode or if the bake element is damaged. If your range has a hidden bake element, watch this video for help replacing that type of element:    • Replacing a Hidden Bake Element in an...   • Visit us at: • https://www.searspartsdirect.com?sid=soc:youtube:replacing-a-range-exposed-bake-element • Or call 1-800-437-1673 to speak with a parts specialist. • The video includes these parts and tools. Electric ranges have two breakers that are often but not always connected, so shut off both breakers. Open the oven door and remove the oven racks. Remove the bake element mounting screws. Pull the element forward to expose the wires connected to the back of the element. Disconnect the wires. Be careful not to let them slip through the holes at the back of the oven or you’ll have to remove the back cabinet panel to retrieve them. Remove the bake element. Connect the wires to the new bake element. Push the ends of the element through the holes at the back of the oven and reinstall the mounting screws. Reinstall the oven racks and close the oven door. Plug the power cord into the outlet or turn on the house circuit breakers for the range. If you pulled out the range to unplug it, slide the range into position, ensuring that the rear leveling foot fully connects with the anti-tip bracket.
