Pressure Washer Unloader Valve Adjustment

An unloader valve has two primary functions on a pressure washer / steam cleaner combination unit. The first is to bypass pressurized water when the trigger gun is closed. The second function (specific to pressure washer / steam cleaner combo units) is to switch the machine between the two modes. When the unloader knob is tightened all the way against the bottom nuts on the unloader stem, the machine is set to pressure wash mode. When the unloader knob is loosened all the way against the top nut, the machine is set to steam mode. • Adjusting the unloader valve requires the use of (2) 7/16 wrenches and (1) 7/16 deep-well socket wrench. • Pressure Washer Unloader Settings: • Install a pressure wash tip into the gun • Remove the unloader knob, washer, and spring • Set bottom adjustment nuts to the lowest position on stem • Return the spring and adjustment knob to the stem • Turn the pump on • Slowly increase the pressure by turning the unloader knob clockwise, ¼ turn at a time, until the pressure rating of the machine is reached • Cycle the trigger a couple times and ensure pressure setting is correct • ** Never exceed the machine's rated operating pressure ** • Steam Mode Unloader Settings: • Install a steam nozzle into the gun • Turn the unloader knob counter-clockwise until the spring is loose • Turn on the pump and open the trigger gun valve • Increase the pressure with the unloader knob (clockwise) until the the pressure is within 50psi of the machine's rated steam pressure • Turn on the burner and allow machine to reach a stable temperature • Adjust the unloader to reach the rated steam pressure and temperature • Cycle the trigger gun a couple times to ensure proper setting • Install the top nut and cap onto the unloader stem • For more information about Sioux products, give us a call or find us online: • Phone: 605-763-3333 • Web: www.sioux.com • Facebook: / siouxcorp • Instagram: / siouxcorporation • Twitter: / siouxcorp • Linked-In: / sioux-corporation
