Kenmore Progressive Upright Vacuum

Here I'm showing is one of my all time favorite Kenmores. This vacuum was made by PhoneMate but distributed by TTI. I got this a little more than a year ago off on eBay for a little more than I should've paid for which was like $200 but in the end it was worth grabbing for because I don't think I would ever find another Kenmore like this near in MINT condition. The only problems with this is that the sensor lights are not working like they should. They still turn on but sometimes it works and sometimes it's doesn't so unfortunately I couldn't show the full bag indicator light like I would've wanted to on camera. Also, the bearings on the brushroll are noisy and I can assure you that's not how it's supposed to sound. And the valve doesn't fully seal like it's supposed to in upright position which is why I had to use my feet of demonstrating the motor protector valve on this. I did try to fix the brushroll but it didn't made much of a difference. I'm not really going to bother fixing those other two because I can't get parts for these anymore and I don't want to risk breaking anything else on this. Other than that, it still works AMAZINGLY! This is a childhood vacuum. I have a neighbor that has or had one of these they bought new from Sears that I've used several times before. And I did tried to convince my step aunt to get one of these new shortly after using my neighbor's because I loved it so much but she ended up buying something else instead when she was looking for a new vacuum. Never would've I thought that PhoneMate actually made a vacuum. In fact, they've made several for Sears but it was only for a short period of time and I think they should've made them for a bit longer because I actually really do like these for what they are. What I think is so interesting with these is that I'm pretty sure they went to a few companies and have them make certain parts for these like the cord, the hose, and the attachments I can easily tell that no one other than a Dirt Devil would use. And using a Eureka style J belt and brushroll, I also find that a Panasonic UB-1 belt would work just fine for this. But I'm also sure they had to get permission to use some patents like using a Panasonic U bag, motor protector valve, and using the same valve design that an older bagless Hoover Windtunnel would use. I'm not sure though if either Hoover or Oreck were involved of letting them use the side brushes because that's what it reminds me of. But for the price that these were sold back then, I got to say that these are very impressive. Powerful suction and airflow, strong agitation, and excellent filtration. Though it does have a burning smell coming from the motor and it could be that's how they were because I slightly remember my neighbor's Kenmore having the same issue as this one. The only two things that I could care less about it that the green bagless Retraxx version of this doesn't have is the clear stretch hose and the rubber grip on top of the handle. At least the hose though is more reliable than the Miele U1/S7 hose. • Hope you enjoyed! • Sign up and subscribe to my backup channel on Vidlii where all of my videos will go to when or if something ever does happen to this YouTube channel. https://www.vidlii.com/user/Panasonic...
