Dry eyes are a very common complaint when tear production is not able to provide adequate eye lubrication. A not uncommon cause of dry eyes is Meibomian Gland Dysfunction or MGD. The Meibomian glands found in the eyelid normally produce an oil that helps minimize moisture from evaporating off the eye. MGD is when inadequate oil is produced due to gland blockage.
