This is a solid-thru-solid illusion with a magician and a large piece of steel. Magician Ryan Joyce presents his take on the classic of magic, walking through a solid object. The effects official title is Rite of Passage Here's the effect: • THE EFFECT: • Two spectators are welcomed on stage to examine a large piece of metal. • The metal is secured between two posts and the magician stands behind the steel and fully enclosed. The only way he can go is through the steel. Portions of the metal sheet are covered and the magician's hand can be seen pushing the fabric spandex away from the metal. The magician's arm fully penetrates the steel and Ryan is revealed to be halfway through the steel. • The illusion is revolved all the way around. • After centring back to the magician walks completely through the steel. • This concept and design were influenced by Timothy Drake, a fellow Canadian magician. • MAGIC'S HISTORY • Throughout history magicians have presented their own original presentations of a classic illusion, walking through a solid object.
