How to Transfer Mini DV tapes to a digital format and work around for tapes with dropped frames. Mainly using Mac and workaround with Windows and hauppauge digital recorder. • Using Mac • Method One: You can use QuickTime to transfer DV tapes through playback, however when the software detects missing frames it will stop capturing. • Method two: IMovie does allow you to transfer, but has the same problem when it encounters missing frames. • Using Windows • I decided to forget the idea of using fire wire, and capture by just recording the video and audio signal by using a digital recorder. The recorder records what it sees, even if the tape is completely fragmented, the recorder I used was the hauppauge digital recorder. • I also used a DV tape head cleaner to help with the quality of the video. • ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- • The recorder I used was an older version, newer one can found here. • https://www.hauppauge.com/pages/produ... • DV tape head cleaner • https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-AY-D... • Apple Thunderbolt to FireWire Adapter • https://www.amazon.com/Apple-Thunderb... • FireWire 800/Firewire 400 Cable • https://www.amazon.com/Cmple-BILINGUA... • ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- • #DVtapes #hauppauge #digitalrecorder
