The Cenacle Sisters receive their special character from the Mystery of the Cenacle (Latin, coenaculum). In the Cenacle or Upper Room the apostles and friends of Jesus gathered with Mary (Acts 1:12-14) after the Ascension, waiting in prayer for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. • • The Cenacle was founded in 1826 by Saint Therese Couderc and Father Stephen Terme.
