This is one of my favorite impressionistic pieces of all time. Maurice Ravel is a true legend, in many ways even more superior than Debussy who is undoubtedly more famous. But when you play this piece you get a sense of Ravel’s clear grasp of impressionistic colors, his excellent use of whole tone, pentatonic and octatonic scales and minor 9ths. • When performing this piece, I tried to dive deeper into the melody than what other pianists do, which is adhere to a stricter tempo and present it as an impressionist painting. Since I’m mostly a Romantic pianist, I like to bring out the individual storylines in the melody more so, thinking of the music as a dance of the water elementals. • Listen on Spotify: • https://spoti.fi/3i19zhA • -------------------- • Website ►►https://musicalbasics.com • TWITCH ►► / musicalbasics • DISCORD ►► / discord • -------------------- • Thank you to my supporters on Patreon ►► http://bit.ly/MB_Patreon
