I was in the right place at the right time (unlike the frog) to witness my resident Southern Black Racer invite a local Cuban Tree Frog to...err, for lunch. • Cuban Treefrogs (Osteopilus Septenteionalis) are invasive to Florida - they prey on native frogs, small lizards, and small snakes; their tadpoles can out-compete native tadpoles for food or space; and are believed to be causing the decline of native treefrogs. • http://ufwildlife.ifas.ufl.edu/frogs/... • In Florida, frogs, lizards, and small snakes make up the majority of the Southern Black Racer's diet. Despite its scientific name, Coluber constrictor, the Racer is not a true constrictor and overpowers its prey by simply grabbing it in its jaws and pressing it against the ground until it stops struggling. Here is video proof. • https://www.floridamuseum.ufl.edu/her...
