In this tool restoration video, I am restoring a rusty round-nose plier. Additionally to get rid of the residual rust I used a small wire brush. The restored pliers were quite stuck so I used WD-40 rust removal several times to soften the joint. For further cleaning and brushing, I used a wheel wire brush and sandpapers with different grit sizes (600, 1000). I also experimented with spray-on rubber coating (Maston) for the handles. Prior to that, I degreased the tool for the rubber to stick better. The rubber coating sicks nicely to the handles, the grip is good and if needed the coating peels off easily. Nevertheless, the application of rubber coating takes some time though. • I like to repair and bring old tools and appliances back to life and inspire others to create something with their own hands. It is nice to repair old used tools and make them useful and usable again. Hopefully, I inspired you and could help with your restorations. • RUSTY ROUND NOSE PLIER RESTORATION | HAND TOOL RESCUE • TIMESTAMPS: • 00:00 Rusty Nose Plier demonstration • 01:19 Removing rust with electrolysis • 02:14 Cleaning with a wire brush • 03:00 Applying WD-40 to soften joints • 03:20 Cleaning with a wheel wire brush • 05:52 Applying technical petrol • 06:07 Rubber coating plier handle • MATERIAL USED: • Electrolysis + baking soda to remove most of the rust • Used a small wire brush to remove residual rust • Applied WD-40 several times to soften the joint • Used a wheel wire brush to further clean the wheel cutter • Used sandpapers with different grit sizes (600, 1000) • Experimented with 'Maston' rubber coating for the handles • ► Check out some of the other projects as well: • / allflavorworkshop • How To Make a Jigsaw Guide | Jigsaw Crosscut Jig • • How To Make a Jigsaw Guide | Jigsaw C... • Old Putty Knife Into Kiridashi | Hand Tool Transformation • • Old Putty Knife into Kiridashi | Hand... • 1930s Vintage Leather Sewing Awl Restoration | Tool Restoration • • 1930s Rusty Sewing Awl Restoration | ... • ► Follow me on: • Website - https://allflavorworkshop.com/ • Pinterest - / allflavorworkshop • Instagram - / allflavorworkshop • If you have any thoughts or questions, let me know in the comments below and I will get back to you as soon as possible.
