Skip the passive stretches and move right into smart and scientific stretching. • By using reciprocal inhibition and the autogenic inhibition reflex, you'll instantly improve your flexibility and mobility. You are about to learn how to stretch properly in order to improve your flexibility faster • Reciprocal inhibition reflexively stops 2 opposing muscles from working at the same time. For example, your quads need your hamstrings to relax when contracting (that being said, they do not fully relax as they are important stabilizers for the knee) in order to stop flexion at the knee. If the 2 muscles were to contract simultaneously at high speeds, there would be a risk of a muscle tear occurring. For this reason, the body tries to avoid having conflicting muscular signals. • The autogenic inhibition reflex works by limiting the amount of contraction a muscle can create. When you're in a fully stretched out position (such as a pike stretch for the hamstrings) and you activate the fully stretched muscle, your mental contraction actually serves to help release the muscle and decrease the strength of its contraction thus loosening it and allowing you to go further into the stretch. • I hope you take away the 2 key principles from this video and start to improve your flexibility ASAP :) • Blog: https://www.radoslav.ca • Instagram: RadRadoslav • Facebook: / radoslavdetchev • Youtube: / radoslavca
