Romel Labrador the Rigging Wizard swung by the shop with a rudder mounted Bixby Jet motor. We threw it on a couple of our favorite ultra light fishing kayaks and did some speed testing. I love the idea of using the Bixby as a electric assist option, allowing you to paddle at max hull speed with far less effort. At 15lbs it doesn't add much weight to the kayak. You could paddle it the same as normal, but when your arms get tired kick the motor down and get some help back to the launch. • Want to learn more?
