Valerian is a perennial herb native to Europe and Northern Asia and it has been used extensively for centuries for its medicinal uses. Due to its popularity and many uses in medieval times this plant became commonly known simply as All Heal . A name that is still common today. • Medicinally, Valerian is used in many ways but the most common way is as a tea or oil to promote sleep and relaxation. Other things it is said to help alleviate or cure are upset stomachs, heart issues and improving cognitive ability to name a few. • Culinary uses are extremely limited however some people do enjoy a few leaves of Valerian in their soups and salads. • In magical work, it is the root of this plant that is most widely used and can be worked into spells for REALLY jinxing up an enemy but it is also a powerful herb for uncrossing and protection work. Also is great in sleep or relaxation spells. • Fun Fact: In medieval Sweden, Valerian was sometimes woven into fabrics at weddings for the grooms clothes as this was said to ward off the envy of the elves. • So if you need to cross up an enemy who really deserves it, want an extra pungent soup or just need a night of relaxation, Valerian might do the trick. • --------- • Blog - https://pasttheveil.com/ • Facebook -   / lookingpasttheveil   • Instagram -   / pasttheveil   • Past The Veil Subreddit -   / pasttheveil   • ---------
