How to Play Jackbox Games Remotely via Zoom

We've had many fans reach out to us recently looking for ways to play our games remotely with others! Here's a quick video guide for one of the more popular options, Zoom. There are both visual and text instructions so you can pause and refer back to the video along the way. • Learn more about other ways our games can be played remotely in this blog post: https://jackboxgames.com/how-to-play-... • And, feel free to reach out if you have any questions or experience any issues! • Twitter: / jackboxgames • Facebook: / jackboxgames • Jackbox Support Site: help.jackboxgames.com • How to Play Jackbox Games Remotely via Zoom • STEP 1: CREATE A ZOOM ACCOUNT • On the same device (PC/Mac/Linux) that you will be using to run games, launch a browser and go to zoom.us. • If you already have an account, sign in. If not, click the upper right “SIGN UP, IT’S FREE” icon. You will be directed to sign up with your preferred email. • If prompted, activate your account. There will be an activation email sent to the address you registered under. • STEP 2: HOST A MEETING • Once signed in, open the “Host a Meeting” menu in the upper right. You can choose between three camera options. • If you are not ready to be on camera, start “With Video Off” and you can turn your camera on later. • If you are ready to be on camera, choose “With Video On”. • If you just want to share the game, choose “Screen Share Only”. • Your meeting will begin launching. If this is your first time using Zoom, it may take a minute for Zoom to install. A pop-up window will appear. When ready, click “Open Zoom”. • The Zoom app will automatically open a new window. Welcome to your Zoom meeting! • You will be the only one on the call to start, that’s okay! • Make sure to select “Join with Computer Audio” to ensure the game’s sound will play on the call. • You can also adjust your Mic and Video settings later in the lower left corner. • STEP 3: SHARE THE ZOOM MEETING • Select the info icon in the upper left of the meeting window. Copy the invitation URL. This copies the link to your clipboard. • You can then paste this link into an email, private message, or group chat. Your players can open the link to join the meeting. • STEP 4: START A GAME • While you wait for your players to join Zoom, let’s get a game started! • Minimize the Zoom window and launch your favorite Jackbox Games title. • It’s best to run the game in full screen. You can enable (or disable) this in the game’s settings menu. • STEP 5: SCREEN SHARE THE GAME • Return to your Zoom window. Hover to the lower bar menu and select “Share screen” in the middle. • You will see all of your running apps. Select the game window and click “Share”. • While sharing, the Zoom menu will appear over the game screen. Only you will see this overlay. Your players will see the game in full. • STEP 6: JOIN THE GAME at JACKBOX.TV • Once everyone has opened the link and joined the call, you’ll be ready to play some games! • Players can join the game on their phones. Go to Jackbox.TV and enter the Room Code. • STEP 7: BEGIN THE PARTY! • Once all players are joined and ready, the player who joined the game first (the VIP) can start the game from their device. • Tip for the host: You can adjust the video chat window’s shape and size. Arrange it as you like so you can clearly see your fellow players and the game. • Tip for all: Under a free account, Zoom meetings time out after 40 minutes. To continue playing, either start a new call or switch hosts.
