Q : What is the significance of the Rudraksha? Why do people wear it around their necks? • Sri M says, Rudraksha actually means, 'the eye of Shiva', the 'ajna'. Therefore, from the mystical or yogic point of view, 'Rudhraksh' is no different from the 'ajna', which is the eye of Shiva. That is the real rudraksh. It is called rudraksha because Lord Shiva is supposed to be wearing a garland made of rudrakshas, which is the only garland he wears, according to the Shiva Purana.
