The Fermi-Dirac distribution tells us how fermions like electrons occupy available states as a function of energy, chemical potential, and temperature. We see that increasing temperature leads to more electrons higher energy levels. This expression helps us understand how many electrons will leave the valence band (creating holes) and occupy the conduction band. • Copyright image attribution: • https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valence... • https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electro... • https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fermi%E... • Krishnavedala - Own work • Fermi-Dirac distribution for 4 different temperatures.
