Whats the big deal with the Pentax 2040mm Limited lens

When I've asked Pentax shooters to recommend lenses for me to try, the most frequently mentioned lens is the Pentax HD DA 20-40mm Limited lens. I'll be honest... I've never been super interested in trying it by itself. I'm mostly a prime shooter to begin with, and I'm stuck in the mindset that if I'm buying a zoom it's gonna be for that large zoom range. Plus, the 20-40mm isn't very wide or telephoto. It's right in the middle. So, it doesn't feel the same as say the 10-17mm being a more versatile fisheye. But the results I see are always amazing, and the constant telling me about it means I had to try it. When I bought my Pentax KP recently it was bundled with this lens, so fate has led us together in the end.
