The name Medoc is derived from a province in France, specifically the Bordeaux region. A former property owner, Sidney Weller, cultivated grapes and produced wine in the area. The park boasts rolling hills, hardwood forests, and diverse plant and animal life, providing visitors with various recreational activities such as hiking, paddling, fishing, picnicking, and camping.
