A rebroadcast of the 11:00 news on WABC-TV (channel 7), ABC's flagship station in New York City. The news has been called Eyewitness News since 1969, and was a pioneer in the branding and format. • Bill Ritter and Liz Cho are the anchors, with Sam Champion's weather forecast and reporters Jeff Pegues, Nina Pineda and Lori Stokes. Bill, Liz and Sam are all still with the station, with the latter in his second stint. Sam Champion left for a run with Good Morning America and later The Weather Channel, eventually returning in 2019 to do the morning weather forecasts. In this video Sam talks about storms brewing around the city, bringing heavy rain for a surprise instead of snow. • The other stories include a fallen firefighter, Saddam Hussein's capture including George W. Bush's remarks on the event, toy guns being on the chopping block, and some murders. Current NYC mayor Eric Adams also appears here during the gun story, back when he was in the NYPD. Love his mustache! • I know NYC material is overrated but you can never get tired of New York's number one newscast! I have lots of WABC coming up on the channel, including some more newscasts, and I did date check which means YouTube doesn't have them (at least that I know of). The cut of Eyewitness News used here is also a banger and is still being used 23 years later. The following year, the news opens were updated to include talent shots. • (C) 2003 Disney/ABC.
