Pouring A Suspended Garage Floor

We’re putting a room underneath the garage floor on our new house and half the internet told me it’s going to collapse. • There’s no support beams underneath- only these two temporary walls that we’ll remove once the concrete cures. • The rebar grid and the entire suspended slab were designed by a structural engineer, and it was inspected before we poured. • The metal decking is attached to the foundation walls on all four sides and the laps screwed together. • Only the front portion of this garage is suspended, but the rebar grid ties everything together. • The metal decking and temporary walls are used to support the concrete when it’s wet, but once it cures the six inches of concrete along with the rebar grid will span the gap and be able to support the weight of a vehicle. • I’m really happy with how the slab turned out- Let me know in the comments if you want to see me drive on the suspended slab for the first time. ‪@hausplans‬ • #build #howto #concrete #garage #floor #construction #diy #contractor
