It shares the Odyssey’s platform, but has more ground clearance, offers all-wheel drive, and looks less boxy and more rugged. Of course, it also doesn’t have as much cargo room as a minivan or the convenience of a sliding door. • The Pilot’s 3.5-liter direct-injected V6 produces 280 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque, with lower trims using a 6-speed automatic and higher trims getting a 9-speed ZF automatic that includes software that enables it to learn a driver’s style and shift accordingly. Chris Wardlaw found acceleration strong and steering effort light, with crisp, accurate response. The brakes bite with authority and are very easy to modulate. The suspension offers a compliant and comfortable ride, but also does a great job controlling body roll in turns.
