Waffle lovers you're in for a treat! • In this video, I'll show you how you can easily replicate authentic Belgian Liège Waffles made from scratch from the comfort of your home. • Liège Waffles are traditionally made with pearl sugar in a yeasted dough. The pearl sugar caramelizes during baking and gives the waffles that irresistable signature sugary crunch. • Give it a try and let me know in the comments below how you like it! ✌ • -- • 00:00 Intro Belgian Liège Waffles • 02:02 Ingredients Liège Waffles • 02:10 How to make Liège Waffles step-by-step • 07:22 Storing unbaked Liège Waffles (dough) • 07:39 Outro Liège Waffles • -- • INGREDIENTS (makes 12 small ones): • • 60 ml (1/4 cup) lukewarm whole milk (FRESH yeast: ca. 35 °C /95 °F or DRY yeast: ca. 43 °C/110 °F) • • 42 g fresh yeast (or 14 g dry yeast) • • 390 g (3 cup + 2 tbsp) flour • • Pinch of salt • • 30 g (2 tbsp) vanilla sugar • • 10 g (2.5 tsp) granulated sugar • • 170 g (3/4 cup) softened butter (not melted!) + some extra to grease waffle iron • • 2 large eggs (room temperature) • • 170 g (3/4 cup) pearl sugar • • Optional: powder sugar, toppings (i.e. Nutella, Biscoff spread, strawberries whipped cream,…) • PREPARATION: • 1) Add yeast to lukewarm milk in a bowl and whisk till dissolved • 2) Let sit for a few minutes until foamy/bubbly • 3) Add flour, salt, vanilla sugar and regular sugar in the bowl of your mixer with the dough hook attached and mix till evenly combined • 4) Add softened butter gradually in the mixer • 5) Add milk mixture gradually in the mixer • 6) Add eggs one by one in the mixer • 7) Knead for a few minutes until the dough is silky smooth • 8) Cover the dough and let rest for at least 40 minutes (longer= tastier) • 9) Add pearl sugar to dough and mix till all pearl sugar is incorporated in the dough • 10) Shape dough into a log and divide into 12 equal portions (should be ca. 78g or 2.75 oz each) • 11) Cover dough with clean kitchen towel and let rest for ca. 20 minutes (till your dough features silky smooth and puffy texture) • 12) Pre-heat waffle iron and start baking (every waffle iron is different so experiment with the first batch and start with medium heat and work up if need be) • Bon appetit! ~ • (Recipe adapted from Jeroen Meus - Dagelijkse Kost) • -- • Did you try this recipe?
