Dirty, greasy stainless steel stovetop. Will it clean? I test it with Barkeeper’s Friend. Which Barkeeper’s Friend is best - the powder or liquid? I will tell you which one I like best and why. • This is a well-known household cleaner. We want to see how well it gets this stovetop clean. We put the cleanser mixed with water to make a paste on half the stove and the liquid cleaner on the other half. It’s specifically advertised to clean stainless steel appliances. • PROS of the POWDER • Gets grease off and cleans well without scratching • Is easier to control how it’s applied • CONS of the POWDER • Difficult to rinse off fully - can leave more residue behind • You do have to mix it with water • PROS of the LIQUID • No need to mix water into it, just pour onto the mess you’re cleaning • Not a lot of residue to clean up after • Won’t scratch • CONS of the LIQUID • Ingredients can settle at the bottom and be difficult to mix up - requires rigorous shaking • Doesn’t get off tough grease as well as the powder • Pours out fast making it easier to use too much (harder to clean up)
