Before using your rod crimper, it is important to understand where to crimp. This tool has a very specific tolerance, and incorrect use could result in the user breaking the tool. • • In this example, we are referencing a Rod Coupler Fitting, which has two crimpable ends. However, this information applies to any crimpable rod fitting. As you can see, there is a thinner middle portion on each end of the fitting. This is the portion of the fitting that you will be crimping over. You do not want to crimp over the portion of the fitting that has the raised lips. • • When the fitting is firmly in place against an even rod end, do not crimp the first 3/16” of the rod. Instead, crimp the ¼” of the rod following the 3/16”buffer. This should put the center of your crimp 5/16” from the end of the rod and will place the crimp over the depression, ensuring a strong connection. • • Looking for more information on Rod Threaded Crimp fittings?
