Iron ore is extracted from earths crust, it is screened,washed, and crushed into small size and then sent to blast furnace area. Blast furnace is charged with iron ore, coke and lime stone and heated in presence of oxygen up to 1500 degree C. Iron ore get melted in two layers 1) molten metal known as pig iron and impurities known as slag. Both molten metal and slag drained separately.
