How To Grow Tomatoes In Containers

This video details how I plant indeterminate tomatoes in containers. I use 20 gallon fabric grow bags for indeterminate tomatoes. Indeterminate tomatoes have a large root system and require a lot of space to grow properly and achieve optimal height and fruit set, so it is important to use the largest container you can manage. I am planting these tomatoes 2-3 weeks prior to my last chance of frost date, so these containers give me some mobility to bring them inside the garage overnight if the evenings get too cold. • Be warned: these containers are heavy when full of dirt, so only attempt this prior to your last chance of frost if you are comfortable with lifting 50+ lb loads onto a garden cart for transportation.
