#PlayRightParent #newborn #subgalealhematoma • This is a super short video. This video was taken two days after my baby was born and we were still in the hospital. A little background: I had gestational diabetes from early in my pregnancy (diagnosed at 14 weeks) and chronic hypertension from before even getting pregnant. I developed preeclampsia in my 35th week of pregnancy and spent three days in the hospital for baby and I to be observed. During my stay in the hospital I had NST’s for the baby and biophysical profiles done and baby checked out ok. They way I was officially diagnosed with preeclampsia was doing a 24 hour urine collection while I was in the hospital and it showed protein in my urine, enough to diagnose me with preeclampsia. So the doctors decided inducing me at exactly 37 weeks would be best for the baby. I went in really early in the morning for my induction and after being fully dialated they told me to start pushing, baby was sunny side up so they told me to stop and I put some sort of ball between my legs in hopes the baby would turn and then they had me start pushing again without checking to see if baby turned. After no progress, and baby’s heart rate kept dropping they felt it was best to do a C-section. The doctor that delivered the baby said how stuck baby was. When I asked if the umbilical cord was around the neck doctor said no. I never really got a full explanation as to how this subgaleal hematoma happened. Due to this baby got jaundice and was put under the blue lights. I would say by day four after birth it was pretty much healed and baby never ended up having to go to the NICU. The nursing staff just observed baby’s head size to see if it was getting bigger and it did not. Baby got a clean bill of health and is doing fine.
