The Howard University Department of Theater Arts presents a production of Sarafina! (performed on March 21, 2016 in the Kennedy Center's own Millennium Stage) Through story and song, Sarafina! follows students from Morris Isaacson High School in Soweto as their focus grows beyond the issue of Afrikaans to encompass every aspect of the black political struggle. Directed by Eric Ruffin with choreography by Jakari Sherman, the book, music, and lyrics are by Mbongeni Ngema and arranged by Mbongeni Ngema and Hugh Masekela. This performance was a part of the James A.
