Shri Krishna Ashtakam written by Sri Adi Shankaracharya, as an octet hymn is a very powerful devotional hymn. • Krishna is the 57th name of Vishnu. He is usually depicted as a young cowherd with a flute in his hand. • Lord Krishna is one of the most popular and worshipped deities among the Hindus. Krishna represents knowledge, wisdom, beauty and opulence. Shri Krishna is the very embodiment of love and divine ecstasy that destroys all pain and offense. • In the benefits part of the hymn it is said that by reciting this ashtakam one will gain understanding of advaita and attain “one with Krishna” i.e become Krishna conscious. • Advaita is often translated as “non-dualism” meaning oneness – supreme being and the manifested being. • Dwaita means means duality, dualism separateness of the material and the divine, they exist simultaneously and independently • Singer · Gaurav and Aasit Desai • Album Shreenathji Satsang • Translated by Ramesh Krishnakumar Jan 2021 • Please support effort at / ramesh_krishnakumar
