Commercial fishing is an effective method for reducing Asian carp numbers on the upper Illinois River. Starting in March, teams of commercial anglers begin removing carp that will be processed into liquid fertilizer. The effort is part of a broader plan to prevent the spread of Asian carp and to keep them away from Lake Michigan. More information about plans to control Asian carp can be found at www.asiancarp.us.
