#police #LED #flasher • Original Blog Post: • http://blog.freddythunder.com/making-... • Update: • schematic - http://blog.freddythunder.com/police-... • made this police light bar for multiple video projects that I have planned. When the time comes I'll be able to borrow or craigslist an old police interceptor / crown victoria to use in the shoots. I wound up using only 2 556 timers. Each 556 has two 555 timers internally. The 2nd internal timer runs at a quick pace, while the 1st runs at a slower pace. The 1st timer turns the 2nd on and off. • I started by using smaller transistors and a circuit for each segment of light, but when I had failure of multiple circuits due to me messing them up, I wound up using 2 higher current TIP31 transistors to switch 40 (per circuit) LEDs on and off. • The outside shell is the lens from a narrow fluorescent light fixture and the unit itself is made out of particle board. Not good for rain I'm sure. • Keep in mind, in Arizona, having something like this on your car while you drive or move a vehicle or equipment on a highway with a lamp or device on the vehicle that is blue and red or just red. So don't be a bonehead and make one of these and drive around moving traffic over.
