Welcome to Atop the Fourth Wall, where bad comics burn. In this episode, Linkara looks at the comic adaptation of Star Trek: Generations! • http://atopthefourthwall.com • Originally uploaded February 24th, 2014. • ORIGINAL INFO: There’s a sweet Star Trek movie comic! …Unfortunately, it won’t arrive until Tuesday. • RUMINATIONS: This episode was a case where somehow I forgot to turn on the microphone, resulting in the audio coming out at a much lower quality. Ah, the fun times one can have with equipment. • Generations I think is maligned unfairly despite having some good ideas. Not every movie needs to have the most massive amount of stakes, make THAT much sense, or be the largest epic ever. I can tell you that, as a child, while I also thought of the “why doesn’t he beam out in a space suit?” plot hole, I was frankly MORE bothered at the time by the constant switching of uniforms for seemingly no reason, hence it’s inclusion in the episode. In retrospect, a lot of the movie is bad… but only in terms of stuff like Kirk’s unworthy death or the destruction of the Enterprise-D. Still, I loved some scenes, especially the ending where Picard points out that what we leave behind is not as important as how we’ve lived. Also, despite the thematic issue of “one Captain is such an utter failure he needs a great legend to fix his mistakes,” Kirk and Picard talking on horseback is really damn good.
