The myriad of differing symptoms that present from patient to patient further complicates diagnosis. • Lyme disease is a bacterial infection that is spread to humans from the bite of an infected deer tick nymph which is the size of a pinhead. The tick must be attached to your body for 24 to 48 hours in order to spread the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria to your blood.
