I Walked Today • December 1, 2014 • My 8th Walk with the Rifton Tram • https://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v... • Today, I walked across the room 4 times. So instead of continuing to guess how far I'm walking, we measured the distance. I cover about 20 feet per crossing. Today's distance = 80 feet! • I tried a new setting for the Large Walking Saddle. Today, the Front Straps are on the Red pegs and the Rear Straps are • on the White pegs. • I wore my leather orthopedic sneakers today thinking it would be easier to walk in shoes the same length as my foot. • But I soon discovered they were much heavier than the longer boot slippers that I had on last week. • Unfortunately, I did not get to workout on the MotoMed last week. I could tell the difference. It was harder to lift my feet, especially wearing the heavier shoes. • Carla calculated that I'm now able to support approximately 20% of my body weight when standing. • Changing the placement of the straps gave my hips a bit more room to swing my legs easier. • My steps tend to get quicker and smaller as I get tired. This was my last trip (my 4th time) across the room. I had to get back to my wheelchair no matter how tired I was. • I'm purposely starting from the far side of the room to push myself to go the extra distance. • Carla zeroed out the scale with the Walking Saddle attached. My weight today wearing clothing and braces was 95 lbs. • Front straps on Red. • Rear straps on White. • I plan to continue weekly training sessions while we submit a request to Medicare to purchase the Tram. It is my intent to have each of my attendants come with me to at least one session so that by the time I receive the approval, everyone who works with me will have had the opportunity to learn and practice with me and the therapist before getting one at home. • If, for some reason, it's not covered by my insurance after appeals, that's when we will consider fundraising options. For those who missed my first installments of I Walked Today, here is a breakdown of the costs for the Tram and the accessories I will require. • Order Summary: • K310 Rifton TRAM • K301 Frame With Weight Scale • $4,690.00 • K302 Frame • (No Weight Scale) • $3,840.00 • K308 Pair of Narrow Thigh Straps • $60.00 • K303 American Standard Power Cord • $32.00 • K315 Large Forearm Supports • (Greater Range of Adjustments) • $460.00 • K316 Medium Walking Saddle • $225.00 • K328 Single Wide Thigh Strap • (Can Be Used for Extra Support) • $30.00 • K319 Pair of Direction Locks • (Breaks) • $150.00 • ============================ • Total Price: $4,797.00 • (No Weight Scale) • Total Price: $5,647.00 • (With Weight Scale) • ============================ • CREDITS • Carla - Physical Therapist • Setting Up Teaching • Use of The Rifton Tram • Dave - Fiance, Personal Care Attendant • Learning How to Use The Rifton Tram • Transportation and Support • Stacey - Personal Care Attendant • Today's Video Recording Photography • Recorded at Niagara Therapy • 12/01/2014 • Visit the Rifton Tram's Introductory Video • • Rifton TRAM Introduction Video
