The dhole (pronounced dole ) is also known as the whistling dog. They're also known as the Indian wild dog. These endangered dogs look like foxes, but they aren't part of the fox genus. This episode of Animal Fact Files focuses on dhole facts. These canids can be found in fragmented populations throughout southeast Asia. They currently inhabit about 80% of their former range. Dhole are pack animals and communicate with sounds like whistles which is why they have another common name: the Whistling Dog. They share these habitats with leopards and tigers, but dholes can hold their own against these large cats because they have a pack on their side!
