Charl (Sarel) Arnoldus Cilliers, born on September 7, 1801 and passed away on October 4, 1871. was a prominent leader among the Voortrekkers and a preacher. Cilliers is particularly renowned for leading the Voortrekkers in a solemn vow, promising to build a church and commemorate the victorious day as an annual Sabbath if they were protected by God and emerged victorious. This vow holds significance even today, with descendants being instructed to honor the day. • If you would like to read more - checkout my amazon affiliate link to The Great Trek UNCUT: Escape from British Rule: The Boer Exodus from the Cape Colony, 1836 by Robin Binckes - https://amzn.to/44xsi9r .
