Coconut Basbousa Semolina Cake Drizzled With Sugar Syrup. Basbousa is a traditional Egyptian – middle eastern sweet cake. This dessert is popular in all Arab cuisines. Basbousa is also called as hareesa, revani is a sweet cake made of semolina. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine syrup ingredients and bring to a boil. • 2. When it boils, reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. • 3. Turn heat off and keep the syrup warm. • • INGREDIENTS FOR BASBOUSA • 2 whole Eggs • 1 cup Semolina • 1 cup Sugar • 1 cup Powdered Milk • 1 cup Desiccated Coconut • 1 cup Yogurt • 1 tsp Baking powder • DIRECTION • 1. Preheat the oven to 180°C . • 2. In a deep bowl, combine egg, sooji / semolina,sugar , powdered milk , desiccated coconut yogurt and baking powder and mix until everything is well incorporated. • 3. Grease a baking pan and pour the prepared mixture in the tray, spread the basbousa mixture evenly. • 4. Bake in a preheated oven for about 10 to 15 min or until it turns golden brown colour. • 5. When basbousa is ready take it out and let it cool for sometime. • 6. Pour the syrup over the warm Basbousa and let it seep into the cake. • 7.
