I Went To China’s Biggest Trade Show To Find A Business Idea

I recently attended the 135th Canton Fair Phase 3 for the first time as a business owner selling physical products online. Although I have been doing business with China for many years and visited multiple times, this was my first experience at the Canton Fair. • Building Relationships and Expanding Product Lines • Over the course of two days, I met with our current factories, who were exhibiting at the fair. This face-to-face interaction strengthened our existing relationships and provided an opportunity to discuss future collaborations. Additionally, I made new contacts for potential products, which will help expand our catalog and grow our business. • Overcoming Communication Challenges • Traditionally, I have initiated conversations with Chinese factories through messaging apps on Alibaba. This method, however, has its drawbacks: • -Time Zone Difference: I often have to adjust to their local time, which can be inconvenient. • -Delays in Communication: The back-and-forth nature of messaging can lead to delays and miscommunication. • -Enhanced Communication: Meeting face-to-face improves the level of communication, allowing factories to put a face to a name, which fosters stronger relationships. • Looking Forward • This experience has convinced me of the value of attending the Canton Fair, and I plan to return in the fall.
