But there is an easy solution; change the lid O-ring and lube it up with either Magic Lube or a Silicone spray. It's a good idea to also lube up the threaded part as calcium tends to develop and add to the stiffness. • After doing this simple repair the following week I was able to get the lid back on and off as if it was a brand new unit. • The only caution with this unit is that as you can see in the video is that the water doesn't evacuate the unit so there are toxic fumes you will encounter after you remove the lid to add tablets. So be careful to wear a mask or hold your breath until you step away.
