2013 marks the golden anniversary of the Cass Scenic Railroad. Every spring, the Mountain State Railroad and Logging Historical Association sponsors Cass Railfan Weekend , featuring immaculately restored Shay and Heisler locomotives pulling vintage freight cars through beautiful rugged mountain scenery. • In 2012, Western Maryland Shay #6 did the honors while double-headed Shays 5 and 11 pulled the accompanying passenger train.
