The last upload I did was Jerry Reed’s “Alabama Wild Man” with the unusual DGCGA#E tuning. I mentioned in that upload that I was going to upload “Tupelo Mississippi Flash” this week since they are in the same tuning and share some similarities. • This song was released as a single in 1967 with “Wabash Cannonball” on the B-side. It appeared on the album “Nashville Underground” that came out a year later. Reed most likely used a Gibson C-1E, which he also used when recording “Guitar Man” (also on Elvis’s version). • The bass line is key in this song. Try to emphasize that to get that funky groove. The modulation I did was not very elegant. I don’t have an elastic capo which you can move easily (like Phil Hunt used on his live performance of this song). • It’s quite a tricky one but once you got it it’s a blast to play! • ----------------------- • Tuning: DGCGA#E • Capo: Partly 1st fret / partly 2nd fret • ----------------------- • 00:00 Full playthrough • 02:38 Tuning • 03:05 Tutorial
