Fly Tying Simple Highly Effective Baitfish Imitation The Gardy Loo Streamer

This simple, highly effective baitfish pattern was developed for a friend of mine who was looking for streamer to imitate a baitfish called silversides. The dominant feature of most baitfish (fathead minnows, shiners, creek chubs, etc.) is a pronounced lateral line. So I took a standard clouser fly, articulated it and developed a way to maintain a lateral line down the entire side of the fly. After tying and fishing it, I realized this fly was suggestive in nature and would catch anything that swims from tuna, stripers, trout, to bass... really anything. In this video, I'll teach you how to tie the fly, create the lateral line and blend materials to imitate any baitfish. From a conservation perspective, feel free to cut off the bend of the back hook to eliminate the risk of deep hook sets.
