Your baby’s poo changes a lot in the first week of life, it can be a bit confusing if you don’t know what to expect. What’s in your baby’s nappy is a really good indicator of how they are feeding. But what should we be looking for? • In the first 24 hours after birth, your baby may have 2-3 wet nappies and their first poo – meconium which is the black, tar like poo. Their first poo. • Around day 3 or 4 their poo will start to change to be more of a green colour • After 5 days they should be having 6-7 heavy wet nappies within a 24 hour period. The wee should be pale and not dark - to show they are well hydrated. They should be having at least 2 soft yellow poos a day. • I’ve created this handy reel which shows how they change and what the consistency will be like. Think marmite, pesto, korma! Apologies if you’re eating your lunch! • To become part of the butterbean community, head over to our website: https://butterbean.uk/ • For more free guidance and support drop us a follow on Instagram: / butterbean.uk and Facebook: / butterbean.uk • If you found this video useful be sure to give it a thumbs up, leave a comment and subscribe to the butterbean channel. • #mother #birth #newmum #pregnant #motherhood #babyphotography #mama #family #bumpstyle #mum #maternity #babyshower #toddler #kids #parenting #momlife #expecting #parents #happybaby #pregnancy #mumlife #newborn #babytoy #newbornphotographer #parenthood #mumtobe #momtobe #babies #breastfeeding #newbornphotography
