It's truly an intense experience and the concept was to visualize how the first impression stays with you for the rest of your life. • The first challenge was to cast people of different ages that looked like they could be one person. Our initial idea was to cast real families with a kid, father, grandfather and great-grandfather as we assumed they would all look alike. This was quite a disappointment as none of them really looked like family. • We also wanted to make the transition visible and not too seamless; we liked the gradual popping of certain features, but this was a very fine line to get right. We also wanted to keep the face 'alive' so we shot it with a lot of movement and this all had to be matched up. We aged a 14-year-old boy through three other actors and a couple of in-between stages of prosthetics. • The prosthetics team created the required in-between stages while the other actors were being filmed. This allowed for very little downtime on set and a smooth one-day shoot. The original actors and their prosthetic older-selves were then all merged together in Flame. To polish things off a full CG beard was added that perfectly blends our last two actors together.
