Shanghai From Above Aerial View of Chinas Largest Metropolis

Aerial film showing the different faces of Shanghai, one of China’s most unique cities to visit. From the spectacular skyline of Pudong to old disappearing neighborhoods, from neglected industrial areas to the colorful container terminal of the Port of Shanghai. • This drone video starts off with a tour of the well preserved classic Bund area, the eye-catching waterfront promenade with beautiful historic architecture. Accompanied by calm (perhaps even relaxing) music, I take you across the Huangpu river to Pudong, the business and financial district of Shanghai. This is where the city’s iconic skyline is built, with various glitzy modern skyscrapers to admire. In the evenings, they are lit up with spectacular neon lights. This show is perhaps one of the most popular tourist attractions in China. • After a bird’s-eye view of the circle shaped Nanpu intersection, we fly all the way to the Port of Shanghai. This commercial harbor boasts the largest container terminal in the world and is a feast for the eyes. Watch massive cargo vessels from around the world arrive and depart, delivering colorful containers. Staying out of the city, we briefly visit the Shanghai Yangtze River Bridge, which (combined with the adjacent tunnel) spans an impressive 25.5 kilometers. • Back in the metropolis, I show you an old neglected industrial area, with crumbling factories and a ‘bicycle graveyard’. This is where the city’s government has dumped thousands of rental bikes that were confiscated for various reasons. A peculiar sight indeed. • From the suburban Putuo district (with the futuristic 1000 trees project), we fly over the Jing’an Temple and the former Expo site, before reaching Huangpu district. This central part of Shanghai still has some old traditional neighborhoods, although they are disappearing fast. It probably has the most contrasting urban landscape in the city. The movie finishes with a glimpse of the jaw-dropping Yan’an intersection, a surreal convergence of roads and elevated highways. • This is an extended version of ‘Shanghai Skyline from Above’ with lots of extra footage, and more relaxing and calm music.
