Starring Michael Dudikoff, the late great Steve James (R.I.P) and the winner of the 1985 Super Mario look-a-like contest, American Ninja tells the tale of Joe Armstrong, an American with amnesia who is trained on a lonely island by a Japanese soldier in the ways of The Code. Years later, Armstrong (real name, unknown) joins a military operation in the Philippines which gets overrun by ninjas. He instinctively defends himself and his platoon with 'great skills', ultimately befriending a new hetero life-partner, Curtis Jackson, who both go on to dethrone the evil operation that has plagued the island. • An Evening With Nuts is a new film review series starring myself (VEE), and my two cohorts AL and CON. Together we're attempting to watch and review some seminal (and not-so seminal) classics from the 80s era of film, starting with a slightly kung-fu and ninja based theme (90s films will also be covered at some point in the mix). New episodes will be out weekly. • Episode 001 is a double-feature: American Ninja 1 American Ninja 2: The Confrontation.
