Remember putting your weight on the standing leg, don’t twist it on the inner side of your rollerblade, try to twist it a little bit to the outer side, try to sit down. After that try to roll, slowly lifting your feet one by one. Try to roll on one foot as long as you can. This is the way to define which leg is going to be one foot. • Before doing this move you should remember Nelson, this exercise will help you to feel the movements of your balancing leg if it coincides with one foot. While reviewing Nelson, sit down properly during every move. After that try to repeat Nelson, but totally easing your back leg. Great. Now try to do one foot itself. Try to pass all of the 20 cones, sitting down at every turn, also let your body help you. Your arms will help you to maneuver, try to keep your shoulders vertical to the track. • Now let’s review what Speed slalom is. • Speed slalom is a speedy passing of 20 cones on one leg with a twelve meters’ running start. When you manage to roll the whole track confidently, you can increase the speed and gradually master this discipline. The setup for this may differ, start with a common rockerale, after that you can switch to 4*80 mm or 3*100 mm and so on, there is quite a number of options. The running start consists of 6-9 steps depending on height, setup, strength of push and other peculiarities. In the beginning try to gather speed just by switching feet intensively, after that switching to running, putting the rollerblade vertically. You can start facing towards the track or sidewards. If you start towards the track you will need a certain level of flexibility. Also you will need a certain level of physical training for more intensive steps. Some of the helpful exercises are running uphill, running upstairs with different stairs’ interval or working out with the rope. • Now let’s talk about rules on the track, remember entering the line of cones on one foot, jumping in or entering on two feet will be considered as a penalty. Knocking down of each cone will cause penalty and knocking down of four cones will lead to disqualification. • You will learn more info about the rules of this discipline in our next lessons!
