His students included Per Nørgård, Ib Nørholm, Bent Lorentzen and Egil Hovland. He is considered to be the most important Danish symphonist after Carl Nielsen. • The poem is written (in Danish language) by William Heinesen who was an important writer from the Faroe Islands, an archipelago and autonomous country within the Kingdom of Denmark, situated between the Norwegian Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean.
