How To Plant FRUIT TREES In POOR DRAINING SOIL In A Raised Bed

In this video, I share how to plant fruit trees in poor draining soil in a raised bed! Planting trees in soil that does not drain well, like heavy clay soil or hard soil, can be fatal to many fruit trees. Tree roots need to breathe, and if soil does not drain, the roots could suffocate and the tree may die. This method will increase soil drainage and can help fruit trees to grow in heavy soils that hold water. • In this example, I am planting an avocado tree. Avocado trees are notorious for dying in soils that do not have excellent drainage. The taproot is very sensitive to standing water, and even the slightest standing water situation can result in the death of the tree once the taproot penetrates the water retaining soil layer. When planted flush with the soil line, avocado trees require very sandy soil that percolates quickly.
